Free version of ACID - A limited version of the popular ACID software. I would consider this freeware, it's limited to 8 tracks but it's a great program.
Audacity - A well known freeware cross-platform sound editor. A very popular and well put together program, I don't know many musicians or geeks either for that matter that don't have this program.
Psycle - A tracker interface based music creation studio with VST, VSTi, and MIDI support.
Buzz - A popular modular audio sythesizer, utilizing "machines" and graphical wiring to allow flexible audio routing.
KRISTAL Audio Engine - This is a good multi-track sound recorder, editor and seqencer. It comes with several good plugins and effects.
Mixxx Dj Software - An open source DJ program providing everything you need to make live mixes.
Music Studio Producer - A studio application that includes a piano roll, sequencer, mixer and more.
HammerHead - A TR-909 like drum sequencer used to create drum and percussion tracks for any music genre.
Reaper - A pretty cool little program, little being the key word. This little guy weighs in at 2.4 MB! Alot like ACID with less features.
Drumbox - Simple freeware sound sample sequencer. Not a bad little tool for creating drum loops. You can't loop loops or anything but you can create your own drum loops for use in other software.
PowerTab Editor - A very useful program for creating guitar tablature. Includes many advanced features and supports popular tablature symbols.
PowerTab Library - Excellent management program for collecting and sharing PowerTab tablature. Many websites offer tabs in the PowerTab format, making this program a must for an organsized library of tabs.
Digital Guitar Tuner - This is a very simple, accurate and useful guitar tuning program. It uses your guitar input to measure the frequency and has a few advanced features. Includes 27 tuning variations.
Delta SP - Another full featured music workstation. Includes an internal VST builder.
Darkwave 2.4 - A free, modern, high performance virtual studio for the creation of electronic music. DarkWave features ease of use for beginners and high quality for studio professionals creating complicated projects.
